My philosophy as an artist, pedagogue, and researcher is rooted in the balance between these three roles. I strongly believe in the synergy where each one reinforces the others. As an artist, my interest in a piece of music is sparked. As a researcher, I immerse myself in its history and meaning. And as a pedagogue, I enter into a dialogue, sharing this deep understanding with students and audiences alike.

Research-Based Performance: Bach's Partita No. 2

Biography

Anri Erikanov, born in Antwerp, is a classical guitarist. His repertoire contains influences from all over the world and from different style periods. He performs his own transcriptions from the violin partitas of Johann Sebastian Bach as well as the modern sounds from the guitar sonata of Alberto Ginastera and the folk Armenian music of Komitas, Gurdjieff and Sayat-Nova.

His talent was crowned in 2024 with the "Oranjebeurs," a prize awarded by the Dutch Consulate. He has given solo and chamber music concerts in Amuz, DE SINGEL, the Liszt Academy, and the Hungarian House of Music. His concerts are known for their virtuosity, thematic coherence, and stylistic versatility.

Anri's musical journey began when he was 12 years old, and he has since dedicated his life to the guitar. After his Bachelor's degree at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp, he further immersed himself at the prestigious Liszt Academy in Budapest with András Csáki. Through his experiences abroad, he discovered new cultures and musical styles that to this day form a crucial part of his musical development.

In 2024, he obtained his Master's degree with great distinction from the conservatoire of Antwerp, under the guidance of Oman Kaminsky. As a recording artist, Anri has released several video productions, including his own transcription of J.S. Bach's Ciaccona for the classical guitar. In collaboration with Museum Vleeshuis and luthier Gust den Aantrekker, he also realized a recording of the Cavatina Suite by composer Alexandre Tansman.

Besides his solo career, Anri is a passionate chamber musician. Since 2024, he has been playing international concerts with the Budapest String Quartet, dedicated to the music of Luigi Boccherini's quintets. In addition, he forms a duo with flutist Ronald Dedrie, with whom he performs a diverse program that bridges the gap between Eastern influences and the more classical Western repertoire.
